Help for the Disorganized Student

A homework coach can keep your child on top of all school work

Private, In-Home Homework Coaches

Next to our math tutors, our “homework coaches,” or homework helpers, are the most popular. Homework coaches work with students two or more days after school. They focus on study skills and building executive functioning. They keep them on-track with their school subjects.

Our experienced, college-graduated tutors undergo special training to become homework coaches. They are uniquely equipped to tutor students with ADHD and problems with organization.

Homework coaches help students to:

  • Complete assignments on time — and turn them in
  • Manage their time efficiently
  • Break down bigger projects into manageable steps
  • Communicate better with teachers and parents.

Atlanta Tutoring for ADHD Students

ADHD students, and other students with executive functioning challenges, are generally bright kids who just can’t seem to “get it together.” They complete their work, then forget to turn it in. They don’t study for a test because they procrastinate. This can be hard for parents and teachers who see a good, smart kid falling behind.

Our coaches can communicate with teachers and counselors to make sure everyone is on the same page.  Although the focus is always on completing homework and staying on top of schoolwork, the homework coach is always thinking about how to build the student’s study skills and self-reliance.

In-Home Tutors matched our teenage son with two skilled, engaging–and caring–tutors during his formative middle school and high school years. The result: he stayed on track thanks to a perfect blend of study skill-building, coaching and loving encouragement. He’s now on his way to college having earned an academic and talent scholarship.

  • Trained Coaches

Our best homework coaches are often young college grads who remember what high school was like. They end up being as much a mentor as a tutor.

  • End Nightly Homework Battles

A good homework coach can remove the tension in the home resulting from fights over homework and school performance. They allow busy parents time to pay attention to other children or household responsibilities.

  • Executive Function Assessment

We offer an online assessment to obtain a snapshot of which executive functions provide the most challenge for your student. We measure 8 facets of executive function, including planning and problem solving, time management, getting started (initiation), working memory, control of focus and more. A custom report is provided to your coach to bring to the first session along with recommendations. This optional report costs a one time fee of $35.

  • Your Curriculum

In-Home Tutors does not impose a curriculum or methodology on you. We base our tutoring on your child’s school curriculum and text books and work with you and your child’s teacher or counselor to identify where your child needs help. Our tutors do not charge for a reasonable amount of communication with teachers.

  • Your Location

“In-Home” is in our name and all our tutors agree to tutor in the client’s home. If you’d prefer to meet at a library or coffee shop or other public location, that’s fine too. We will also send our tutor to your child’s school or daycare, as long as we receive official permission to meet there. In short, we always seek to do what’s most convenient for the client, not what’s easiest for the tutor.

  • Your Schedule

We do our best to fit in with your schedule. Whether you need a tutor in the morning, afternoon, late into the evening or on the weekend, we can usually find a good tutor to match your availability. As you’d imagine our best tutors see their schedules fill up fast, so it is always in your interest to be flexible. But you’ll be impressed to see how hard we try to accommodate your requests.
